These stars can be easily spotted as they are close to the Milky Way. The name "Purvashadha" translates to "former unconquered" or "former invincible one," emphasizing its attribute of invincibility. An alternative name for this nakshatra is "Aparajita," meaning "undefeated." The symbol associated with Purvashadha is a handheld fan, which represents its showy and glamorous venusian aspect. The fan also symbolizes its ability to cool down in hot conditions, fan up a fire, and hide oneself. Purvashadha is associated with aggression, patience in adversity, keeping things going, and concealing facts or feelings. It is a nakshatra that uncovers hidden talents by shedding unnecessary obstacles. The ruling deity of Purvashadha is an obscure goddess named "Apah."
