Biography

Who is Garbo Greta?

Swedish-American actress, one of the most magical and famous of the stars of the silver screen. She was raised in a cold water flat in Stockholm in a poor but close family. Her dad died in 1920. With her flawless apricot skin, honey colored hair and lavender eyes, she was a model in her teens. By 19 she was cast in the film "Gosta Berling." Catching international notice, the following year she moved to Hollywood. The most celebrated actress of her era, she played in films that included "Camille," "Anna Christie," and "Ninotchka." She was a millionaire by the time she was 26 with property in three countries. Reclusive and retaining a sense of modesty and humility, she was once seen scrubbing clean the front steps of one of her homes. She withdrew more and more as she matured, with a reticence that was close to pathological, making her final movie in 1941, "Two Faced Woman." Her early retirement enhanced the air of mystery about her, seen in her later years only as a furtive figure in an oversized hat, accompanied by her companion. Some two dozen books and thousands of stories all took a stab at penetrating to the essence of the enigmatic figure. In her last 50 years, her life seemed aimless and whenever her privacy could be invaded, the excursion held little reward; she was found dull and wanting. Garbo had a classic alabaster beauty with a bi-sexuality that was fascinating and aloof. After her passionate affair with John Gilbert, she tended in theory to prefer the company of women. In actuality, she leaned more to celibate narcissism. An affair with Leopold Stokowski was well-documented during 1938 when they spent most of the year together in Italy and Sweden. Greta Garbo died on 15 April 1990 at age 84 in New York City as a result of pneumonia and renal failure. Link to Wikipedia biography

Garbo Greta birth chart analysis for Ascendant

In Vedic astrology, the natal chart or Janma Kundali provides insights into an individual's life and personality. When the natal lagna (ascendant) is in Taurus, the native is generally characterized by stability, practicality, and a strong sense of determination. Taurus is an earth sign ruled by Venus, which bestows a love for beauty, luxury, and comfort. The presence of Rohini nakshatra, which is ruled by the Moon and located entirely within Taurus, enhances these traits, making the individual particularly attractive, creative, and nurturing. Rohini natives are often seen as charming and magnetic, with a strong inclination towards artistic pursuits and material success. The placement of the lagna lord, Venus, in the 3rd house (Cancer) has significant implications. The 3rd house represents communication, siblings, courage, and short journeys. When Venus occupies this house in Cancer, which is a water sign ruled by the Moon, it introduces a blend of emotional depth and affectionate communication. The native is likely to have a warm and caring relationship with siblings, and may express themselves artistically or creatively. This placement often enhances social skills, making the person persuasive and charming in their interactions. Venus in Ashlesha nakshatra, ruled by Mercury, adds further complexity. Ashlesha is known for its transformative and somewhat secretive nature. The influence of Ashlesha can make the native intuitive, perceptive, and occasionally manipulative. They may possess a keen understanding of human psychology and can navigate social situations with subtlety and finesse. This nakshatra's influence can also lead to a deep interest in esoteric subjects and a powerful internal drive for personal transformation. To summarize, a native with Taurus lagna in Rohini nakshatra and lagna lord Venus in the 3rd house in Cancer and Ashlesha nakshatra will likely exhibit a blend of stability, charm, and creativity, with strong communication skills and an intuitive understanding of people. They may find success in fields that require artistic expression, interpersonal skills, and an ability to influence others subtly.

Common questions about this profile's Vedic astrology, birth chart, and numerology — answered by our astrologers.

How does Vedic astrology explain Greta Garbo's extraordinary rise to Hollywood fame?

Greta Garbo's birth chart reveals a powerful combination of Taurus ascendant, ruled by Venus, the planet of beauty and glamour, which directly fueled her legendary screen presence. Her Virgo Sun sharpened her perfectionist craft, while an Aries Moon gave fierce emotional drive. Together these placements, amplified by Raja and Dhana yoga indicators in her chart, explain her rags-to-riches journey from working-class Stockholm to becoming one of cinema's most iconic figures.

Which Western zodiac sun sign does Greta Garbo belong to, and how did it shape her acting style?

Greta Garbo was born on September 18, 1905, making her a Virgo in the Western tropical zodiac. Virgo is ruled by Mercury and governs precision, discretion, and analytical depth. These qualities were unmistakable in Garbo's meticulous, understated performances. Virgo's naturally reserved nature also explains her famous desire for privacy and solitude, a trait that became as legendary as her beauty itself.

What does Greta Garbo's birth chart reveal about her deeper spiritual purpose and inner life?

Greta Garbo's chart carries the soul signature of someone meant to transcend the material world. Her Aries Moon placed her on a path of inner independence and self-discovery, while her Taurus ascendant anchored a lifelong search for beauty and meaning beyond surface success. The Life Path number 33, a rare Master Number, points to a higher calling of compassion and inspiration, suggesting her art was ultimately a vehicle for a deeper spiritual expression.

Astrologically speaking, what core personality strengths and defining traits set Greta Garbo apart?

Greta Garbo's Taurus ascendant blessed her with a gorgeous, magnetic physical appearance and an innate sense of aesthetic refinement. Her Virgo Sun made her disciplined, observant, and quietly intelligent, while her Aries Moon added a fiercely independent and pioneering spirit. These combined energies created the paradox Garbo embodied so memorably: a bold, emotionally intense inner world concealed beneath a cool, introverted, and breathtakingly beautiful exterior.

What does Greta Garbo's Life Path number 33 say about her destiny and purpose?

Greta Garbo carries the Life Path number 33, one of the rarest and most powerful Master Numbers in numerology, often called the Master Teacher. This number speaks of extraordinary creative gifts placed in service of uplifting humanity through art, beauty, and emotional truth. For Garbo, it reflects a destiny far larger than personal ambition, one where her performances touched millions and her enigmatic persona left a permanent imprint on cultural history.

How does Greta Garbo's birth chart reflect her famously elusive and complicated approach to love and relationships?

Greta Garbo's romantic life was as complex as her chart suggests. Her Aries Moon created deep emotional needs alongside a fierce desire for personal freedom, making lasting commitment difficult. The Taurus ascendant drew her toward sensual, devoted bonds, yet Virgo's critical nature introduced perfectionism that few partners could satisfy. Her chart also indicates bisexual inclinations and a tendency toward extramarital entanglements, all consistent with a woman who famously chose solitude over conventional partnership.
