Lloyd Sam

American character actor and musician, known for his portrayal of beaten down lawyer Ted Buckland on the comedy-drama TV series Scrubs (2001-2009) and on the sitcom Cougar Town (2011). He also played marriage counsellor Dr. Albert Goldfine on mystery-comedy-drama TV series Desperate Housewives (2004-2005). Aside from acting, Samuel is an accomplished singer with the a cappella group The Blanks. He is the nephew of Back to the Future star Christopher Lloyd, and his father, Sam Lloyd III, was also an actor. He and his uncle both guested on Malcolm in the Middle and The West Wing. In January 2019, Lloyd was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor, which was subsequently revealed to be metastatic lung cancer, which spread to his liver, spine and jaw bone. His wife Vanessa had just recently given birth to their first child, son Weston, when Lloyd received his diagnosis. In May 2019, Sam Lloyd announced on his GoFundMe page that the tumor and hematoma that were in his brain were "virtually gone" but he was not cancer-free or in remission.
