She was four years younger than her sister Elizabeth, and was known as a rebellious and somewhat high-handed youngster. The Princess had a romance with Peter Townsend in 1953 but he was considered an inappropriate match and they separated on 30 October 1955. She married Antony Armstrong-Jones on 6 May 1960 with whom she had two children in 1961 and 1964. The couple separated on 19 March 1976, formally divorcing on 10 May 1978. Her name was linked with 28-year old Roddy Llewellyn for several years before he married another in 1981. A smoker for some years, she had a mild stroke on 24 February 1998 while dining with friends on Mystique. She had, however, a life marked by illness. On 3 January 2001, the palace announced that she may have had another "mild stroke," and once more on 27 March 2001. The Princess had a stroke on the evening of 8 February 2001 and was taken to the hospital.
