French philosopher and aesthetician, who played an important role in the dissemination and recognition of the Frankfurt School and especially the work of Theodor Adorno in France. He was the author of several books on music, but also established the critical editions of the writings of Eugene Delacroix, Maurice Denis and Francis Picabia.
