Lo Shu Grid Calculator Build your grid from your date of birth

The Lo Shu grid is a 3×3 magic square in which every row, column and diagonal adds up to 15. In numerology, the digits of your date of birth are placed in its cells, and the numbers that are missing or repeated are read as the strengths and gaps in your chart.

Enter your date of birth

Only the date is needed — no birth time or place. The result shows your grid, your Mulank and Bhagyank, and what your missing and repeated numbers mean.

The Lo Shu grid. Positions are fixed — every chart uses this same layout.

DKSCORE follows Indian numerological practice: your grid contains the digits of your date of birth plus your Mulank and Bhagyank. Some calculators place only the date digits, so their grid may show fewer numbers than yours.

What the calculator shows

Everything below is worked out from your date of birth alone.

Your Lo Shu grid

Each digit of your date of birth placed in its fixed cell, with repeated digits shown together in the same cell.

Mulank (driver number)

Your birth day reduced to a single digit. It is added to the grid and labelled, so you can see where it went.

Bhagyank (conductor number)

Your full date of birth reduced to a single digit, also added to the grid and labelled.

Missing numbers

The numbers from 1 to 9 that do not appear in your grid, with the planet and theme each one is linked to.

Repeated numbers

The numbers that appear more than once, and how many times, with what an excess of each is said to indicate.

Complete planes

Any row, column or diagonal of the grid that is fully present, such as the mental, spiritual or practical plane.

How the Lo Shu grid is arranged

The grid never changes. The top row is 4, 9, 2, the middle row is 3, 5, 7 and the bottom row is 8, 1, 6. A number always goes in its own cell, so two people's grids can be compared at a glance.

Each number is linked to a planet in Indian numerology: 1 to the Sun, 2 to the Moon, 3 to Jupiter, 4 to Rahu, 5 to Mercury, 6 to Venus, 7 to Ketu, 8 to Saturn and 9 to Mars. Rows, columns and diagonals are read as planes, such as the mental plane (4-9-2) or the practical plane (8-1-6).

How DKSCORE builds your grid

Every digit of the date

Your date is written as DD MM YYYY with the full four-digit year, and every digit is placed in its cell.

Zeros are left out

The grid has no cell for 0, so zeros in the day, month or year are not placed.

Mulank and Bhagyank are added

Following Indian numerological practice, your Mulank and Bhagyank are placed in the grid as well. Some calculators place only the date digits, so their grid can show fewer numbers.

Always a single digit

Mulank and Bhagyank are reduced all the way to a digit from 1 to 9. Master numbers such as 11 or 22 are not kept, because the grid has no cell for them.

FAQ

Lo Shu grid calculator: questions and answers

What is a Lo Shu grid?
The Lo Shu grid is a 3×3 magic square from ancient China in which every row, column and diagonal adds up to 15. Numerology uses it as a chart: the digits of your date of birth are placed in its cells to show which numbers are present, missing or repeated.
How do I make my Lo Shu grid?
Write your date of birth as DD MM YYYY and place each non-zero digit in its fixed cell. In Indian practice you then add your Mulank (birth day reduced to one digit) and Bhagyank (whole date reduced to one digit). The calculator above does all of this from your date of birth.
What do missing numbers in the Lo Shu grid mean?
A missing number is read as a quality you may need to work on consciously. Each number is linked to a planet and a theme, and the calculator lists the meaning of every number missing from your grid.
What do repeated numbers mean?
A number that appears more than once is read as a strong influence in your chart. When it appears many times it can also point to that quality being overdone. The calculator shows how many times each number repeats.
What is the difference between Mulank and Bhagyank?
Mulank, the driver number, comes from your birth day alone. Bhagyank, the conductor or destiny number, comes from adding every digit of your full date of birth. Both are reduced to a single digit from 1 to 9.
Why does another calculator show a different grid?
Many calculators place only the digits of the date of birth. DKSCORE follows the Indian convention of also placing the Mulank and Bhagyank, so your grid here may show one or two more numbers. The calculator labels both so you can see the difference.
Do I need my birth time for the Lo Shu grid?
No. The Lo Shu grid uses only your date of birth. Your birth time and place are needed for a Vedic birth chart, such as finding your Lagna, but not for this grid.
Is my date of birth saved?
No. The grid is calculated in your browser. Your date of birth is not sent to our servers, saved to a profile or added to the page address.
