A member of the French Socialist Party (PS), he has been a member of the Departmental Council of Doubs and of the French and European Parliaments. He has been National Secretary of his party since 1995. On May 2014, he was entrusted by the Prime Minister of France with a six-month mission to assess how European policies can better contribute to growth and employment. On July 2014, French President Francois Hollande proposed him to be Frances representative in the next European Commission. French politician Pierre Moscovici was born in Paris on September 16, 1957. He is a member of the Socialist Party and a former Minister of Economy and Finance. Moscovici is currently a European Commissioner for Economic and Financial Affairs, Taxation and Customs.
Moscovici studied at the Institut d'études politiques de Paris and the École nationale d'administration. He began his political career in the early 1980s, serving as an advisor to Prime Minister Lionel Jospin. In 1997, he was elected to the National Assembly.
Moscovici has held several ministerial positions, including Minister of European Affairs, Minister of Public Service and Administrative Reform, and Minister of Economy and Finance. He was appointed European Commissioner for Economic and Financial Affairs, Taxation and Customs in 2014.
Moscovici is a vocal advocate for European integration and has been a strong supporter of the Eurozone. He is also a strong advocate for social justice and has proposed several measures to reduce poverty and inequality.
