Bhrigu Chakra Paddhati Calculator Find the house active in your current year of life

Bhrigu Chakra Paddhati (BCP) is a Vedic timing method in which each year of life activates one house of the birth chart, in order: the 1st year the 1st house, the 2nd year the 2nd house, and so on to the 12th, after which the cycle starts again. In an active year, astrologers who use it look at that house, its sign, its lord and the planets in it.

Enter your birth details

Use the time from your birth certificate if you have it. Houses are counted from your Lagna, which needs an accurate birth time. Your current year of life is taken from today's date on your device.

Your birth details are used only to calculate this chart. They are not saved to an account or added to the page address. This tab remembers them for the other calculators and forgets them when you close it.

What the calculator shows

Everything comes from one chart calculation, the same one the Lagna calculator uses, and your date of birth.

  • Your current year of life

Which year of life you are in today, with its dates from your last birthday to the day before your next one.

  • The active house

The house that year activates, the sign it holds in your chart and the planet that rules that sign.

  • House lord and planets

Where the house lord sits in your chart, and which planets are placed in the active house.

  • Counted from the Moon

The same house counted from your Moon sign (Chandra Lagna), which our guide uses as a second reference point.

  • The next 12 years

A table of the coming years of life with their dates, houses, signs and planets.

  • Chart with the house marked

Your Lagna chart in North Indian or South Indian style, with the active house marked BCP.

Why the birth time matters

The year of life comes from your date of birth alone, so the house number for any age is the same for everyone: the 1st year activates the 1st house, the 13th year the 1st house again, and so on.

What that house holds is personal. The sign in each house, and so the planets in it and the house lord, depends on your Lagna, and the Lagna changes sign about every two hours. If the result shows a note about your Lagna, a birth time a few minutes different could put the neighbouring sign in every house.

How DKSCORE works out the active house

  • Year of life from your birthday

Your first year of life runs from birth to your first birthday, the second from then to your second birthday, and so on. The current year is worked out from today's date on your device.

  • One house per year, in order

The 1st year activates the 1st house, the 12th year the 12th house, and the 13th year the 1st house again. In short: take the year of life, subtract the largest multiple of 12 below it, and a remainder of 0 means the 12th house.

  • Whole-sign houses from your Lagna

The sign of your Lagna is the 1st house, the next sign the 2nd, and so on. Planet positions come from a sidereal chart with the Lahiri ayanamsa.

  • Lord and planets read from your chart

The house lord is the planet that rules the house's sign. The calculator shows where that planet sits and lists the planets placed in the house.

FAQ

Bhrigu Chakra Paddhati calculator: questions and answers

What is Bhrigu Chakra Paddhati?
Bhrigu Chakra Paddhati (BCP) is a timing method in Vedic astrology, attributed to Sage Bhrigu, in which each year of life activates one house of the birth chart. The houses are taken in order, one per year, and the cycle repeats every 12 years.
How is the active house calculated?
Find your year of life: your first year runs from birth to your first birthday. Subtract the largest multiple of 12 below it; the remainder is the house, and a remainder of 0 means the 12th house. For example, someone born on 1 January 1990 is in their 37th year from 1 January 2026 to 31 December 2026. 37 − 36 = 1, so the 1st house is active. The calculator then reads the sign, lord and planets of that house from your chart.
Is my year of life the same as my age?
No, it is one more. At age 36 (after your 36th birthday and before your 37th) you are in your 37th year of life. BCP counts years of life, so the calculator shows both: the year of life and the age range it covers.
Which years of life activate each house?
The 1st house is active in the 1st, 13th, 25th, 37th, 49th and 61st years, the 2nd house in the 2nd, 14th, 26th, 38th, 50th and 62nd years, and so on up to the 12th house in the 12th, 24th, 36th, 48th, 60th and 72nd years. The calculator shows this cycle with the sign each house holds in your chart.
Do I need my exact birth time?
For the house number, no: it comes from your date of birth. For what that house holds, yes: the sign in each house, and so its lord and planets, is counted from your Lagna, which changes sign about every two hours. Use the time on your birth certificate if you have it.
Why does the calculator also count the house from the Moon?
Our guide suggests checking the active house from two reference points: the Lagna and the Moon sign (Chandra Lagna). The calculator shows the sign and planets of the same house counted from your Moon, beside the one counted from your Lagna.
Does the calculator predict what a year brings?
No. BCP shows which house is in focus in a year. Astrologers who use it read that house together with the planets in it, the house lord and the running dasha before saying anything about the year, which is a question for an astrologer.
I was born on 29 February. When does my year of life change?
In years that have a 29 February, on that day. In other years, the calculator starts your next year of life on 1 March, once 28 February has passed.
Are my birth details saved?
Your details are used only to calculate the result. They are not saved to an account or profile, and they are never added to the page address or sent to analytics.
